The Marshall County District Court is located in Warren, the county seat in the far northwestern corner of Minnesota. Court Administrator Pamala Shaw runs the office and manages all records for the public. The court is part of the Ninth Judicial District, which covers 17 counties across northwestern Minnesota. The same administrator serves both Marshall and Roseau counties.
Marshall County was created in 1879 from Kittson County and named for William Rainey Marshall, the fifth governor of Minnesota. The county was organized in 1881 and has maintained court records since that time. Birth and marriage records go back to 1882. Land records date to 1883 and military records to 1919.

Searching Marshall County Court Records
The free MCRO system at publicaccess.courts.state.mn.us is the best place to start a Marshall County court records search. You can search by name, case number, or citation. The system shows case type, filing dates, parties, and a register of actions. Documents filed on or after July 1, 2015 are accessible online. Older documents require a visit to the courthouse.
In-person searches use the public access terminals at the Marshall County Courthouse. Free parking is available at the surface lot and on the street. Staff can show you how to use the terminal but do not do research for you. Bring the full name of one of the parties or the case number to make your search faster.
The court also maintains self-service terminals to view and print court records. There is no charge to view records at the courthouse. Copies cost money. Written requests can be sent to the court by mail or fax.
