Waseca County District Court
The Waseca County District Court is the main court for all public records in the county. It sits in the Third Judicial District along with Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona counties. The court has original jurisdiction over every civil, family, probate, juvenile, criminal, and traffic case filed in Waseca County. Shannon Asselin serves as Court Administrator and manages the records office.
The courthouse is on North State Street in the city of Waseca. Parking is available in two lots on the north side of the building and one lot on the south side, with street parking nearby. The office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-in visitors can use the public access terminal inside the courthouse to search case records at no charge.

Search Waseca County Court Records Online
Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO) is the state's public access system for court records. It is free to use and covers all Minnesota district courts including Waseca County. You can search by person name, business name, attorney name, case number, or citation number. The system shows party names, case type, filing date, and docket entries. MCRO has some limits. Criminal cases that ended without a conviction must be searched by case number rather than by name. Documents from before July 1, 2015 may not be available online. Cases involving civil commitment, domestic abuse, harassment, juvenile delinquency with a felony charge for those 16 and older, and CHIPS matters do not show documents in the public system. For those records, you need to visit the courthouse or call the court office directly.
Under Minn. Stat. § 13.03, government data is public unless a specific law says otherwise. Most court records in Waseca County fall under that general rule. Some personal data within case files may be restricted, but the basic case information is open to anyone.
In-Person Court Records Access
You can visit the Waseca County courthouse to look up records in person. The public access terminal in the courthouse gives free access to statewide case records. Copies of court documents are available at the courthouse. Plain uncertified copies are free. Certified copies cost $14 per document. Exemplified and certified copies are $28. If you want documents scanned or faxed, the fee is $25 per 50 pages. You can also submit a written request by mail. Include the case number, the names of the parties, and a list of the documents you want. Mail the request to the court office at 307 N. State Street, Waseca, MN 56093. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return.

Court Fines and Online Payments
