Grant County District Court

The Grant County District Court is located at the courthouse in Elbow Lake, a small community in west-central Minnesota. Court Administrator Rachel Schmidt oversees clerk operations and maintains all case files. You can reach the court at (218) 685-7675 or fax at (218) 736-9929. The courthouse has a free parking lot. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Staff can look up cases and make copies on request.

Grant County belongs to the Eighth Judicial District, which covers Big Stone, Chippewa, Grant, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Meeker, Pope, Renville, Stevens, Swift, Traverse, Wilkin, and Yellow Medicine counties across western Minnesota. The district office is based at the Kandiyohi County Courthouse in Willmar. The 8th District has offered districtwide housing court since August 2022.
